Donkey Kong Country: Storm The Capitol Announced For Nintendo Switch

Donkey Kong is back, and it’s about time too! The first member of the DK crew hasn’t had a new game since 2014’s Tropical Freeze on the Wii U. While the Nintendo Switch did get a port of the aforementioned game, fans have eagerly awaited a more modern game. This is where Donkey Kong Country: Storm The Capitol really makes its mark. This game is so up-to-date that the entire plot is based off of a political event from January 2021. That is about as modern as a game can get. Nintendo revealed all the juicy details in their longest Nintendo Direct to date.

What Is Donkey Kong: Storm The Capitol?

In ‘Storm The Capitol’, Funky Kong takes the frontlines. After Funky Kong discovers a conspiracy for voter fraud, he jumps in his Funky Airlines plan and heads to Washington D.C., the capitol of America. With some help from some new friends, Funky Kong storms the capitol in the couch co-op game of the decade. The game promises to have the zany humor typically found within the Donkey Kong Country series but turned up to 11. Fans are excited, and they cannot wait to get their hands on this game.

Why Is Funky Kong The Star Of The Game?

In previous Donkey Kong Country titles, a different main character was chosen to headline the next installment of the franchise. The additional ‘Funky Mode’ found within Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in hindsight was a clear indicator of Funky Kong becoming a new main protagonist. Funky Kong makes sense to star in a game about the capitol riots, as he was recently exposed as an extreme Conservative.
