While the Slipknot frontman is best known for his hit memoir ‘But What Do I Think?’, he is also known for wearing masks to make each era of the band. This era of Slipknot will be no different. Fans did not have to wait long for an album this time. The follow-up to Slipknot’s 2019 album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ is nearly here. Due to the quarantine lockdown, the band was able to stay busy and produce a ton of content. The band has not revealed when the new songs will debut, but Corey Taylor isn’t letting that stop him from debuting his new mask. Why The Hell Is Corey Taylor Wearing A Shrek Mask?

This time Corey Taylor wanted to ensure that his mask was absolutely horrifying. The ‘Psychosocial’ singer told famous sculptor Glen Hanz, most famous for creating the gorgeous looks seen in the 2004 flick ‘White Chicks’ that he needed a mask so scary, it would scare children. Hanz, being a creator of absolute horrifying looks in the past, was up for the task. Corey Taylor explained that he wanted a “Michael Myers inspired mask”. Hanz was stuck between two options. Should the mask convey Michael Myers appearance from ‘Shrek’ or ‘The Cat in the Hat’. While the later is defined as the stuff of nightmares, the sculptor decided to craft the new mask off of the appearance of Shrek the Ogre.

The mask is bound to scare children, but what does Corey Taylor think? Corey Taylor reportedly was confused when he first saw the mask, and calmly explained that there seemed to be some confusion regarding his request. The mask quickly grew on Taylor, and he embraced the mask full-heartedly.

Corey Taylor is the front man of Slipknot, Stone Sour, and he even wrote and released a memoir recently. Slipknot is one of the biggest bands in metal, and helped launch nu-metal to the mainstream back in the late 90’s. This all led to him having the greatest opinions of all time.
