Firstly, seals and sea lions have completely different ears. Seals have little holes on their head, and lacks a pinnae. The sea lion has a visual external pinnae that looks more like a tiny dog ear. Secondly, seals only have tiny front flippers, so seals can only flop on the floor once beached, and their flippers can only help guide their flops. Sea lions however, have longer flippers both in the front and back that can actually function as arms and legs. Lastly, the over all appearance between the two are very different. Seals are chunky and round creatures that nearly look like one continuous body. Sea lions on the other hand look more like aquatic dogs. Both creatures are similar in concept, but once you compare them side-by-side the differences are incredibly apparent.

In an actual battle, the seal stands no chance. Sea Lions are more aggressive, mobile, athletic, and even have more bark than a seal. The bark of a sea lion is terrifying, and no one has ever been intimidated by a seal. Seals probably don’t even want to fight in the first place. Seals are chonky creatures that just want to chill and relax. Whether a seal is swimming or laying out on the beach, there is no way they have a single aggressive thought. I am partial to seals as they are so cute, but sea lions would definitely win a physical battle. In the seals vs. sea lions fight, there is only one clear winner. Strength isn’t everything though, so we will see which species goes extinct first. I anticipate the day seals are domesticated. I will protect them forever.
