Issues Will Not Be Playing Warped Tour This Year

The warped tour alumni Issues will not be playing the Vans Warped Tour this year. The news comes as a shock to fans, as the band is frequently on the bill. Issues played Warped Tour 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018, and fans were hoping they would return for 2020. There is no confirmed reason why the band is not attending the festival this year, but there is plenty of speculation.

So Why Isn’t Issues Playing Warped Tour This Year?

Below we will list the top five theories behind the band’s absence from Warped Tour.

  1. Firstly, the band may be trying to distance themselves from that scene. Issues’ newest album “Beautiful Oblivion” was a major departure from their previous sound. While the band stays true to the sounds they previously flirted with, such as R&B, funk, and progressive metal, they stray far from anything typical to the Warped Tour scene.
  2. Secondly, the band has played Warped Tour enough times. Issues has played Warped Tour several times under their current moniker. Front man Tyler Carter has even played the festival twice previously under Woe, Is Me.
  3. Thirdly, the festival doesn’t pay enough. After splitting the payments supplied by the Warped Tour, it is possible that the festival just doesn’t pay enough anymore. Warped Tour has always been more about exposure than a pay day, and the Issues boys are all older now and likely done with low paying bills.
  4. Fourthly, the band has booked bigger shows here on out. Issues is up and rising and always has been. They have opened for Bring Me The Horizon twice, A Day to Remember multiple times (between cross country tours and the bands Self Help Fest), and even Good Charlotte and Taking Back Sunday. The band is popular amongst old and new alternative fans, and they likely have plenty of big tours planned.
  5. Lastly, the band is likely ready to mainly headline. The band is famous for their long sets. Even since their Self-titled headlining tour, the band has played up to 24 song sets. The band has many fan favorite songs, and a six to eight song setlist just doesn’t do them justice.

Any of these reasons sound likely, but no one knows which is the true reason until a statement is released by the band. The band’s absence will be noticeable, and fans will miss their presence. Their sets were often rowdy and high energy even during the hot summer days.
