Breath Of The Wild 2 Will Not Feature Zelda’s Agonizing Voice

If you disliked having voice acting in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, you’re in luck. The sequel to the smash success Switch game will feature much less voice acting from the cast. This is mostly due to the fact that Zelda will no longer speak. This is shocking, as Zelda is rumored to have a bigger role in the sequel. So what gives? Why will Zelda be speaking less? It seems that Nintendo is writing out her ability to speak altogether. This is likely being done to address one of the few major complaints about the first game. Many fans hoped this would happen and Nintendo plan to deliver. The game is rumored to be called ‘Breath of the Wild 2: The Silenced Princess’.

What Will Breath Of The Wild 2 Be About?

Breath of the Wild 2 will be about Link and Zelda’s silent quest across Hyrule. Link has always been mostly mute, but this will be Zelda’s first time without a speaking role. Nintendo prefers having silent protagonists. If Zelda is promoted to main character, her voice has to go. Link and Zelda will come across the corpse of Ganondorf inside the catacombs beneath Hyrule Castle. Upon finding the Demon King’s corpse, the soldier and princess duo will be cursed by the King of Thieves’ malice. This curse will cause Zelda to become mute, and link to lose his abilities from the first Breath of the Wild game (second if you count Age of Calamity?).

Why Does Nintendo Prefer Silent Protagonists?

Having a silent protagonist is a genius move for any developer. Being able to save on dialogue development, voice acting, or even a script is a huge win for Nintendo. Imagine if Link had something to say to every NPC in every Zelda game? This could had dozens of dollars to the budget of the game. Every single line of dialogue counts. Nintendo is creative and knows they can easily solve this issue. No one questions why Mario, Samus, and Link all don’t talk. These series with silent protagonists are doing well for themselves, and they continue to receive new entries within their respective series.

Notice how Star Fox is a dead franchise now? That is because Fox McCloud spoke. I mean seriously, if there was any character that shouldn’t speak, the fox is one of them. Why can’t the humanoid characters speak? The answer is clear. Nintendo knows what they are doing, and we couldn’t be happier with our muted princess.

How Is The Gameplay?

The game will not feature co-op. Since the covid-19 lockdowns, co-op games have been considered unsafe for play. Instead the classic gaming company will throw a major curveball. Players will move Link and Zelda one at a time. Both characters must make their way across the world of Hyrule, but independently. This gameplay decision was made in order for players to get the most out of the world crafted for Breath of the Wild. The map will be the exact same as the first game, but this time players will get to transverse across the vast and empty fields of Hyrule TWICE. This is huge news, as no game since Rare’s ‘Donkey Kong 64’ has ever been brave enough to force players to play through the same recycled content several times. This seems like a true return to form for Nintendo.
