Top 5 American Sign Language Letters

I don’t know American Sign Language. However, I decided I still have the right to rank the signs for the alphabet. Here is a the Research lead Top 5 Letters in ASL.

The Letter “R”

#5: “R”
This “fingers crossed” gesture is familiar to most people. It is typically used to wish for good luck. However, in ASL, it is simply the letter “R”. It seems like a missed opportunity that this sign doesn’t mean “Good luck.” Whoever came up with this is foolish and laughable. So funny that it earned “R” the number 5 spot on this list.

The Letter “O”

#4: “O”
This sign just makes sense. Anyone, either fluent in ASL or completely oblivious to the language, could guess that this symbol is the letter “O.” Not only is this sign logical, it makes a great hole that has a multitude of uses.

The Letter “V”

#3: “V”
Similar to “O”, this sign perfectly resembles the letter “V.” This is also the universal sign of peace. The only person who wouldn’t love this sign is war monger George W. Bush. Clearly I’m not him, so I adore this sign. It has earned the #3 spot on this list.

The Letter “H”

#2: “H”
This sign is dangerously close to finger guns. Finger guns are epic. Therefore, the letter “H” is equally as epic. It is a little threatening, which only adds to the allure of this letter. “H” leaves a lasting impact, and this letter deserves this number 2.

The Letter “X”

#1: “X”
Pirate fans rejoice! This sign makes it look like you have a hook hand. This is the BEST letter. Pirates are bad ass. They are known for robbing, violence, and sailing. Whenever you sign the letter “X,” you’ll be instilled with pirate pride. The adrenaline rush of piracy that runs through your veins with the hook hand is unlike anything else. “X” is the number 1 ASL letter.
