Spider-Man PS5 Update Has Fans Thinking That Peter Parker Looks Exactly Like John Mulaney

Peter Parker has had many different looks throughout the history of Spider-Man media. He has had three live action actors, countless animated versions both 2D and 3D alike, and even several video games. It is hard to imagine what the ideal version of Peter Parker is, but fans did admire his look in Insomniac’s Spider-Man PS4. Now Spider-Man PS5 is coming, and the gaming studio has updated Peter’s appearance yet again. Fans can’t help but complain. The Complaints make sense, as Peter’s design was great. What mainly bothers these disgruntled fans is that the Spider-Man PS5 update changed Peter to look exactly like John Mulaney.

The choice is very random, but Insomniac refuses to comment on the similarity. It is highly unlikely that this is a coincidence. John Mulaney has been very popular lately. Insomniac likely wanted to cash in on his hype. The comedian has been dream casted as Spider-Man for years, and Insomniac clearly took inspiration.

Why Would The Spider-Man PS5 Update Even Change Peter’s Appearance?

Spider-Man PS5 is bringing the character into a whole new environment. Next gen consoles aim to achieve new graphical heights, and this called for big changes. First, Insomniac claims that Peter was updated to better suit this technological and graphic jump. Next, the studio also exclaimed that the new face model fits the voice actor better. Lastly, the voice actor Yuri Lowenthal claimed that his face shape was what caused the change. No one is sure which reason is the real one, if any. Fans speculate that the studio just wanted to use John Mulaney’s likeliness. The change has fans upset. No reason can justify changing the much beloved look of Peter Parker.

Only time can tell if fans will learn to love and accept the new Peter Parker. John Mulaney is the perfect Peter Parker, but he cannot replace the one we already learned to love. Comment down below your thoughts on the new Peter Parker.
