Emmy Sweep from Malcolm in the Middle IMAX RELEASE

Malcolm in the Middle, the critically acclaimed television show from the early 2000-2006, has swept the 2020 Emmys. It won Best Comedy Series, Best Lead Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series, and Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series. Malcolm in the Middle pulled a cheap stunt by having a nationwide theatrical IMAX marathon of all 7 seasons of the show. It was a 65 hour feature that included every episode of Malcolm in the Middle.

Due to COVID-19, the seating was very limited. Only 3 people were allowed in each theater. Even though every showing was sold out, it only sold 100 tickets total, with a net loss of $50 million in the box office. Was this box office disaster worth it? Bryan Cranston, actor of Hal, said, “The numerous Emmy nominations and awards the show got during its initial airing wasn’t enough. I will destroy anything that gets in the way of Malcolm in the Middle getting the recognition it deserves, even if it is 14 years after the show ended.”
